PROTEST
Must there be thousands of participants in dissent to qualify a protest or can it be an event involving a single individual? Is the protester a ‘crackpot’ or a ‘prophet'? A protest can be seen as a compelling moment with the single purpose of inviting the public to engage in the protester’s passionate hope to right a perceived wrong This hope is always in contradiction with the ‘status quo’. From graffiti and billboards to mass placard, banner and flag-waving demonstrations, I document protest events because I feel they are a significant alternative public opinion poll from a segment of society which disagrees or feels it is not being heard.
