Bikers for Jesus

Subculture of the biker stereotype

Motorcycle clubs are a very diverse group. There are hundreds of different clubs, associations or, for lack of a better word, ‘gangs’. I document the wide association of Christian bikers because I find them unique in the biker culture. Unlike the stereotypical ‘outlaw’, they do not embrace the ‘bad boy’ image. Rather, they ride to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Riding their bikes and wearing their leathers and regalia, they at first look like the typical biker. On closer look, one notices that the usual skulls and daggers are replaced with colourful religious symbolism. For me, this imagery has instant photographic appeal as does the presence of Christian bikers as a subculture within the mainstream motorcycle gang cliche.
